A paradise in an urban tangle of overhead wires, grey buildings and
sullen commuters, the gardens of Tokyo are a tangible, organic
connection with Japan's rich and fabled past.
A selection of prints from "Paradise: The Gardens of Tokyo"
was acquired for the permanent collection of the Canadian
Museum of Contemporary Photography in 2005.
Tim Porter was born in Washington, D.C. After studying literature at
the University of Virginia, he took up photography in Montréal in
the late 1960s. He now lives in Tokyo, where he is also a
filmmaker and aspiring Japanese gardener.
